1. Is Pigeon Planner really free?

Yes it is! Pigeon Planner is free and open-source software, released under the GPL license. You don't have to pay for it, although small donations are welcome.

2. What are the system requirements?

There are no real requirements, the program isn't memory consuming, so a general computer will be fine. Though it can be run on 1024x768 monitors, it is recommended to have a screen resolution of 1280x800 and up. The Windows version needs Windows 2000 or higher.

3. When will there be a version for Mac OS X?

As I don't own a Mac myself, there is no way for me to test and package it on Mac OS X. So I need to find a maintainer that wants to package it everytime a new Pigeon Planner release comes out.

4. Pigeon Planner isn't translated in my language, can you do it please?

Short answer: no. I don't speak much languages, so don't expect that every translation is available. However, since this is an open project, you can translate it yourself! Not just for you, but for everyone who uses the program and speaks the same language. Please go to the "Translate" link on the right.

5. Something went wrong running the program, what should I do?

Normally if something goes wrong, you should get a window with a logfile. If not, go to File - Logfile viewer in the menubar, copy all the text that is inside and mail it to me with the steps you did and what goes wrong.

6. Do I lose my data when I install a new version?

No, all data such as your pigeons and results are stored in a different place than your application folder. So you can remove or reinstall the program without the loss of your data.

7. I want to start with a clean database again, but reinstalling won't help.

As said above, the data is stored in a different location than your application, so uninstalling, reinstalling etc. won't help. As of version 0.5.4, there is an option in the toolswindow to delete your database. A little warning here: this will permanently delete the database, so only use this if you are sure that you want to start over again.

8. Do I really need to update Pigeon Planner?

Please do so. Although it is not mandatory to keep using the program, it is highly recommended that you do. New versions mean new features and bugs fixed, so it's better to always stay with the latest version. And why not? It is free!

9. I e-mailed you, but I don't get a reply!

Please wait a bit if you send an e-mail. This is not a company, no helpdesk, just me. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
